More about

Dirty Kid Couchsurfing Coalition

...Dkcsc is all about loving the invisible people in our society. We help connect people who have become disposable with resources and individuals in times of need and crisis. Our mission is to never have another person who walks on the outer most fringe of society suffer the consequences of the constant neglect and hatred that seems so common today.

DKCSC has a list of "couches" across the Country, in every state, where travelers can find sanctuary.

We also run Project Call Your Mom. CYM meets with kids in gatherings and on the road and calls in messages to their families. Our hope is to reconnect street kids and travelers with more support and opening the door to their family can make a difference between life and death. We also travel to gatherings and squats with donations. We send care packages, ALOT of fresh socks and pizza, and when we can, provide gas cards, phone cards and motels for urgent situations.

DKCSC has volunteers to help with a host of different issues. We have addiction and trauma counselors, AA supports, Mechanics, Midwives, Veteran housing information, rape support, domestic violence and genuine support for those having a rough time. We also have teams committed to helping find the missing and supporting those who have lost loved ones. The road can be a hard place. It can TURN us hard. Support helps keep us grounded.

DKCSC agrees with the Freegan philosophy "that We live in an economic system where sellers only value land and commodities relative to their capacity to generate profit. Consumers are constantly being bombarded with advertising telling them to discard and replace the goods they already have because this increases sales. This practice of affluent societies produces an amount of waste so enormous that many people can be fed and supported simply on its trash.

DKCSC is committed to supporting, educating and feeding people by sharing resources we have found and opening up new resources- and showing unconditional love to those thrown away from a society that loves generally only with conditions.

WE BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF LOVE.

AND WE BELIEVE THAT ALMOST NO ONE WILL REFUSE A HAND UP- IF IT’S OFFERED IN THE RIGHT WAY.

WE BELIEVE THAT WHEN ONE OF US HURTS, WE ALL HURT...AND WE BELIEVE THAT IF SOMEONE SEES THAT YOU ARE HURTING WITH THEM AND FOR THEM AND THAT THEY ARE NOT SUFFERING ALONE, IT'S POSSIBLE FOR EVERYTHING TO CHANGE.

WE EVEN BELIEVE THAT EVERYTHING CAN CHANGE IN ONE DAY.

WE BELIEVE THAT ONE SOUL CAN PROVE OTHERWISE.

AND THAT BELIEVING IN ONE SOUL CAN BE A CATALYST TO GREAT CHANGE.

WE BELIEVE THAT EVEN ONE LIFE CHANGED CREATES RIPPLES. SAVING ONE LIFE IS WORTH IT.

WE BELIEVE WE CAN BUILD A NEW SOCIETY, ONE IN WHICH WE ARE ALL IMPORTANT,CONNECTED… CHERISHED.
